Welcome to my blog!
My name is Krystene.... or as my future students will call me, Ms. Lang. I am about to 22, and I will start student teaching on January 2, 2013. I have been placed with a 3rd grade teacher. In truth, I am actually incredibly excited about being back in third grade! The first time I ever spent any extended amount of time in a classroom, was in a third grade classroom. That experience, provided my high school Teacher Cadet class, was singularly the most important because it was with those students that I realized I had no other choice but to be a teacher... More importantly, an elementary school teacher. Yes folks, that is correct. I knew without a doubt, before even stepping foot onto a college campus, that I was, dare I say it, destined (!!) to be a teacher.
Now you ask, why blog about student teaching? I'll answer that dear readers! I want to blog about my experience student teaching, because frankly, I have found no other written records of it! There are thousands of teacher blogs.... but blogs about student teaching?? ZILCH! NADA! NONE! This is, in my college student opinion, a serious travesty. At the end of my last semester, all of the professors had their student teachers come in and share there experiences. I have never seen such tired people. And their stories were slightly horrific! ...Ok, they weren't all so bad. Several people had WONDERFUL experiences. Kudos to them! But their stories were isolated, or more of a big picture kind of story. That, is just not good enough. So I am taking to the blogger-verse, and sharing my story. Week by week! The ups, and the downs. The good, the bad, and most certainly some ugly!
It is my hope that by sharing this story, some future student teacher, might just gain some much needed knowledge about how to deal with this final semester. Maybe, just maybe, I might actually HELP someone. Go figure!
And, if you stumble across this blog, and know nothing about teaching, or student teaching, I hope that you will at least find my story slightly comical, a bit sarcastic, and learn just what teachers have to do, to become teachers.
IN CONCLUSION!!!!
Because we know that all good blogs post regularly, it is my goal to post every weekend. Weekend is defined by me as Saturday or Sunday. I know that by Friday afternoon, as much as I love my dear readers, I am more important. After a full week, I just don't see myself really wanting to talk to you all. No offense!!! I just see my Friday afternoons and evenings relaxing, and taking a mental break from the world that is student teaching. I'm sure you all can understand that!
Now, I probably won't post again until the 5th. I mean... student teaching, hasn't started!!! However, if something interesting happens between now and then, I will most definitely let you all know! :-D
Now, have a WONDERFUL Saturday!
A Merry Christmas! (because, I don't care about being "PC" online!)
And a HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
